- Marcel Marceau"As you know, the birth of your own child is one of the most profound moments in your life. What WE didn’t know was how profound the role of the doula could be in this event. You have left us without words in describing everything you have meant in bringing our son into this world. We will always hold you very dear to our hearts for making our birth story more than we could have ever hoped for. With all of our love, thanks for helping us “Rock our Birth!” Forever indebted to you, Jen!"
~Love, Lisa, Chris, and our beautiful baby boy----------
"Jennifer, You are an inspiration to us! Thank you for your passion and dedication to bringing healthy babies into this world drug free. Can you even fathom the number of lives you’ve affected and changed for the better?! You are the reason we accomplished the birth of our choice (and our dreams.) You are such an amazing teacher and we’ve really enjoyed each and every one of your classes. Even the third time around, we still learned new things! I’m so glad that God brought you into our lives (and Skylar too!) We are so grateful for you and everything you do and have done for us! We pray that God will continue to bless you, bless and increase your business, that He will strengthen you, encourage you and give you the desires of your heart! We can never say THANK YOU enough! Thank you 1,000,000!"
~Love, Sarah, Harold, Keith, and Luke (your two at-home water birth doula babies.)----------
"Having Jen present while I labored was far more helpful than I could have imagined. She really helped control my breathing while my husband was able to focus on physically helping me. She was very calming and helped me to feel more confident about where I was in labor. Overall it was an amazing experience. She was great support in the weeks after as well."
~Love, Catherine, Sam, and our baby girl----------
"Jennifer was there for us—fully present and helpful even at 2am in the morning. She thought of us and our needs before her desire to sleep and other personal concerns. She asked the right questions to determine where we were in the progression of labor and then joined us right away. She brought a birth ball and confidently led the mother through contractions, alternating positions every half hour. She was also a great encouragement to the mother and father throughout—supporting and affirming us.
We left for the hospital just in time to arrive for second stage pushing. Jennifer was by the mother’s side, physically and emotionally assisting with each push until our daughter arrived. Within a few hours our labor and birth story had been written (three detailed pages!) by Jennifer, and ready to share to the delight of our family. Thank you! We plan to see you for the birth of our next child!"

"My husband and I experienced a very unusual, complicated labor and delivery. We wanted an un-medicated, vaginal delivery, but our baby girl had other things in mind. Although we didn’t have the picture perfect birth we had envisioned, we couldn’t have gotten as far as we did without Jen. Jen encouraged us every step of the way and was a support I could not have imagined. She provided relief, comfort and compassion in our most trying moments and reminded us constantly that we always had options. Twenty nine hour later our beautiful daughter was born. I’m certain that my resolve would not have been what it was without Jen. My husband and I will always be grateful for the role she played in our daughter’s birth."

"Jennifer was the kind of support I needed as a first time Mom. With so many unknowns, she was invaluable in advising us of our options. She was always available in the weeks leading up to the birth, and checked up on us as my expected delivery date drew near. When my water broke in the middle of the night, she came over for support, and we spent the next 12 hours trying many different ways to get contractions going. Once things were in full swing, she accompanied us to the hospital, and was just the support I needed to get through an un-medicated labor and delivery. At the hospital, I progressed very quickly through the dilation and she helped keep me focused and relaxed. We can’t thank her enough for her loving support and guidance!"

"Jennifer was my Doula for my 2nd son, and I know that I could not have attained a natural child birth without her. I called her about 11 pm at night with my contractions 5 minutes apart and she was at my house within the hour. My labor moved fairly quickly, as it was my 2nd child, and she was with me throughout, first at my house and then later at the hospital. My son was born at 5:18 am, and Jennifer was there the whole time, even for a while after his birth. Her encouragement kept me going. I have to admit that there were a few moments when I wanted to give in and get the epidural, but her encouragement and coaching kept me focused on the task. And when the going got REALLY tough, she had great suggestions for taking the edge off the pain. During my transition, which was the worst part for me, she and my husband each put full-force pressure on my hips, each focusing on one side of me, and together pushing my hips in. Oh my, I cannot tell you how that took the edge off the pain and kept it manageable. Neither my husband nor I would have ever thought to do that, and somehow she just knew to try it, and it worked great! She also encouraged me to change positions throughout, as well as take a shower. I didn't want to change positions because changing positions hurt, but once settled into the new position (or shower), I did get relief. Again, I never would have pushed myself to try something different, and wouldn't have gotten the relief, without her support.
And even after my son was born, Jennifer's role still didn't end. My son had a difficult transition and had lots of fluid in his lungs when he was born. The baby nurse worked on him for an hour, suctioning and pounding on his back to get the fluid out. She believed he needed to be admitted to the nursery for observation and left to get the NICU Charge Nurse for an official evaluation. While she was gone she put the baby on my chest and Jennifer suggested that I just "be" with him, stroking him, talking to him, and calming him down. 10 minutes later the NICU Charge Nurse showed up for an evaluation and said he's perfect. I totally credit Jennifer for keeping my baby and me together. My instinct was to keep "working" on him, pounding his back, etc. But thanks to Jennifer's insight I took a totally different approach during my 10 minutes alone with him, and, I believe, had a totally different outcome. She also stayed long enough to make sure he was nursing and we were off to a good start together.
Jennifer was not only my Doula but also my Bradley Natural Childbirth instructor, and my Chiropractor. She and I had gotten to know each other quite well in the 6 months leading up to my birth due to the frequency with which I saw her. During this time she would always share the stories of the births she attended, and I had come to greatly respect her knowledge in this area. She has demonstrated to me time and time again her level of competency, as well as her pure love of childbirth. The reason I chose her as my doula is because of my total trust in her knowledge. I trusted that she would not only be a great coach, but also my advocate and trusted guide during this exciting event. I knew that she would know when the time was right to go to the hospital, would know if something was "wrong", and would advocate for me if needed with the hospital staff. If you choose to have Jennifer as your Doula then I know that you will have the best experience you can. Yes, childbirth hurts, and hurts badly. But that's why you need a Doula to be your personal champion. And, in my experience, you could not ask for anyone better than Jennifer. I wish you the best of luck in this exciting adventure. And let me know if I can answer any other questions for you."
